Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman Of Toyota Dies Due To Heart Attack

He held a number of significant roles at CII, SIAM, and ARAI. The fourth-generation leader of the Kirloskar Group was Vikram Kirloskar

Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor and a pillar of the Indian automotive industry who served as the face of Toyota in India, passed away at the age of 64. Initial reports indicated that Vikram Kirloskar had a serious heart attack.

The development was confirmed by Toyota India in a message sent on its social media accounts. The statement said “We are extremely saddened to inform the untimely demise of Mr. Vikram S Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor on 29th November 2022. At this time of grief, we request everyone to pray that his soul rests in peace. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Last respect can be paid at Hebbal Crematorium, Bangalore, on 30th November 2022 at 1 pm.”

Vikram Kirloskar and Geetanjali Kirloskar, the couple has a daughter Manasi Kirloskar. Kirloskar was last spotted at the launch of new Toyota Innova HyCross model, on 25 November 2022 in Mumbai.  

Condolence statement of Mr Vinod Aggarwal, President, SIAM and MD & CEO, VECV stated, “The entire Auto Industry is shocked and deeply saddened at the tragic demise of Shri Vikarm Kirloskar at the age of 64 in Bengaluru. Mr Kirloskar has led SIAM as President from 2013 to 2015 and has been Chairing the SIAM Passenger Vehicle CEOs Council. Mr Kirloskar was widely respected and admired at all levels. He contributed immensely to the growth of the Indian Auto Industry and emphasised on the need for making India a robust Auto manufacturing hub. He has always been passionate for all round development of the Industry and aligning them with the national goals for the good of the Economy, Environment Sustainability and the Society.” 

Over the years, he held a number of significant roles at CII, SIAM, and ARAI. The fourth-generation leader of the Kirloskar Group was Vikram Kirloskar. He served as the Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor in addition to being the Chairman and Managing Director of Kirloskar Systems.

Kirloskar had a view that EVs do not necessarily serve the purpose of reducing carbon emissions given the current low level of renewable energy sources in India.
