Battery Swapping Policy To Play Critical Role In The Growth Of EVs

The main goal of the draught Battery Swapping Policy is to establish a framework for improved interoperability

Encouraging various technologies and business models that would assure lower upfront costs, little downtime, and lower space requirements for charging the batteries, the notion of battery swapping is claimed to address all the difficulties. Therefore, Battery Swapping Policy will be essential to the development of electric vehicles in the nation.

The goal of the battery swapping policy is to establish a framework for improved interoperability while preserving the EV battery ecosystem's innovation potential. In order to create standards for the form factor (i.e., size and dimensions) of the battery, communication protocols, connectors, and interoperability that will ensure thorough compatibility among EVs, BIS has currently established a committee under the ETD51 Committee of BIS. These guidelines are being developed with the intention of facilitating the adoption of battery-swapping infrastructure in a way that does not hinder innovation and instead promotes effectiveness, efficiency, reliability, safety, and customer-friendliness.

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari provided this information in Lok Sabha.

The main goal of the draught Battery Swapping Policy is to establish a framework for improved interoperability. Additionally, the Battery Swapping Policy outlines every area of accountability in detail.
