The industry sales figures for the month of October 2022 have been made public by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). In India, the car industry together sold 1,923,032 units this month, representing a 6.1 percent increase over the 1,810,856 automobiles sold in October 2021. These figures cover passenger cars as well as three-, two-, and four-wheeled vehicles. Therefore, the industry as a whole sold 291,113 units of domestic passenger vehicles, an increase of 28.6 percent from 226,353 units.

In comparison to the 1,552,689 units sold in the same month of 2021, the sector reported total two-wheeler sales of 1,577,694 units in October 2022, a small 1.6 percent increase. The three-wheeler segment reported 54,154 units at the same time, an increase of 70 percent from 31,812 units.

In the month of October 2022, 2,191,090 passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers, and quadricycles were produced in total.

The industry's overall sales from April to October 2022 were 12,455,138 units, up 21 percent from the 9,844,119 units sold during the same time period in 2021. The number of passenger vehicles sold was 2,227,853; the number of two-wheelers sold was 9,976,158; and the number of three-wheelers sold was 250,766. Total quadricycle sales were total 361 units.
