Comparison : Hyundai Venue VS Mahindra XUV300

Here is a quick comparison of Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV 300.

The compact SUV segment has been booming in India and it is time for the league leaders to get back in the game. BWAutoworld checks out how they fare against each other.

Engine & Transmission

On the engine front, the Venue offers a wide variety with two petrol engines with a naturally aspirated 1.2 liter and a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine. The former produces 83PS and latter produces 120PS of power with 115nm and 172nm of torque. The venue is also offered in a 1.4 diesel producing 90 PS of power and 220nm of torque.

The XUV is offered in a single 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol Engine producing 110PS of power and 200nm of torque. On the diesel front, the XUV is offered in a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 115PS of power and a massive 300nm of torque.

For the Venue the two petrol engines are offered in three transmissions with a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and a 7 Speed DCT and the diesel is offered in a 6-speed manual.

The XUV 300 is offered in 6 speed manual for both the petrol and the diesel and an AMT is on its way for the diesel.

Features & Connectivity

The Venue offers an 8inch touchscreen which is the best in class and it is paired with Hyundai’s own blue link app which has many

connected features like controlling the temp through your smartphone, ignition through the smartphone and a lot more. The XUV comes with a 7inch touchscreen and both the cars come with an electric sunroof and some exclusive features of the XUV over Venue include rear adjustable headrest, rain sensing wipers and front tire detection monitor along with dual zone climate control. The Venue, on the other hand, has wireless charging, air purifier, rear AC vents and the option of an E-Sim connectivity.

Storage & Space

Both the cars score great on practicality with a lot of storage spaces inside the cabin but it is the Venue that has a boot space of 350 liters whereas the XUV 300 has a smaller boot with 259 liters. The Venue is definitely much more desirable as a family car for long road trips.

Price & Warranty

The XUV 300 ranges from Rs 7.90-11.99 Lakh ex-showroom Delhi with a 2year/unlimited km warranty that can be extended through Mahindra’s Shield Programme. The Venue Starts from just Rs 6.5 Lakh and goes up to 11.1 Lakh with Hyundai’s 3 Year unlimited Kms warranty on board which can also be extended.

Now that the competition is heating up in the market, it is yet to see what these cars will offer. The expectations are high, after all, they are the smaller siblings to the Creta and XUV500 that have already been a hit in the market and these should not disappoint.
